I have finally decided on a PC build and am due to pick it up very soon. I did notice however that my GPU was listed as having 1 HDMI 2.1a port and 3 DP 1.4a ports however most monitors I've noticed have 2 HDMI ports and 1 DP. I know I could put some money towards a cable that converts the DP from the GPU to a HDMI for the monitor but I also know that a lot of cables are poor quality, unreliable etc...
I do intend to have just 1 monitor to start however I do plan to have it as a dual monitor "setup".

(some connectors I found that do display port in to hdmi out):

(some cables that dont need the extra hdmi cable):

Trouble with adapters is both Gsync or Freesync may not work. Try the Displayport cable first if monitor comes with one, they usually do and usually good quality. If not then a Vesa certified brand such as Club3D or Accell. Try keep under 2m for best results.

Adapters are iffy, I would avoid them.
But so long as a monitor can use either hdmi or dp you should not have any problem.
Generally, I like the DP connections better. hdmi may have speed limitations.
A monitor will only use one connection at a time.
It is the gpu that will be connecting to several different monitors.
