Hi, I recently purchased a DP to VGA cable.

Link here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00LM3GF76/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I needed this as my GTX 1060 doesn't support VGA.

But when I plugged in the cable I got errors on my monitor "Cable Not Connected" I have no idea as to what the problem could be, I've tried trying to find a solution but simply making sure I plugged it in properly didn't seem to fix it. I also have read something about passive adapters, I think this is what I have? But I have read that I need to purchase an active one? I was wondering if there is a way to solve this and if I must purchase another one, could someone point me in the correct direction of which adapter I should be purchasing?
Thanks :)

Hi,
According to:
"Analog VGA and dual-link DVI require powered active adapters to convert the protocol and signal levels and do not rely on dual mode. VGA adapters are powered by the DisplayPort connector, while dual-link DVI adapters may rely on an external power source (see Dual-mode)"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort
I suggest testing an active dp to vga like https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Adapters/VicTsing-DisplayPort-Female-Active-Adapter-Converter-Macbook/B014IIP766/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482850666&sr=8-1&keywords=active+dp+to+vga
