Trying to hook my asus nexus player to the only open port left on my HP Zr30w (displayport)

I have a hdmi to vga adapter that works fine, and a vga to displayport adapter that works fine, but all together? No signal?

Hdmi--vga adapter 2 vga cable 2 vga--displayport adapter--

Had all the cables laying around and since I can always remote desktop my way around this to get were I want so I don't want to spend $$ on this, not sure if I missing something and if this franken cable should actually work?

Thanks, I thought I may have been missing a deal breaker with this. I can do a dp adapter on the monitor to dvi cable to the dvi on my nvidia, so when you say "one way" my current setup would be hdmi><dp but will dvi<<dp "one way" but in my view the wrong way, probably a no go also?

Hdmi and dp are digital signals, VGA is analog. You really need an active adapter for that or you'll not get 1080p. For 1080p, dp=hdmi=dvi all well within bandwidth tolerance, so act the same. You could do dvi-dp with just a plain adapter or dp-dvi cable.

I switched out the vga (hdmi/vga for a epson projector) and I have an active dp to dvi-d adapter (from old amd eyefinity setup) that would go to a dvi port on my gtx 760, before tearing everything apart, does it matter the displayport adpt. Is at the monitor "backwards" from the usual video card to dvi port at the monitor?

Yup, just tried no joy, I would like to get this setup so my hdmi splitter will go to hdmi/hdmi on one side and hdmi to dp on the other, I'm reluctant to get a dp to hdmi adpt because the splitter while it has the advantage of striping out the HDCP encryption , it is totally hit and miss on which devices it works with, split my dish network sat box to tv/projector no problem and no boink your monitor is not hdcp messages, but split my non HDCP nexus and problem, works sort of, boot screens and a tease of video but real video = black screen.

So if I was to try an hdmi to dp cable/adapter any thoughts on getting max compatibility?

Side note, comp forums = cool helpful people, sat tv forums = RAGING A-HOLES after having posted a long complex thread about my 3rd dead hopper in a month only to comeback and find it deleted, no warning no exp, nuttin not even a pm. So I'm pissed and let loose with the expletives, only to find the company I have sent $100+ a month and $12,000+ total reply with

Trying to watch my media player (asus nexus 1 hdmi out) on any/all of my screens, 32" lg lcd, epson projector vga/composite, and displayport on my computer monitor. I have an hdmi splitters and source switch so ideally

Nexus source box..
Dish hopper 3 into source box..
Then both into 4 way hdmi splitter (hdmi, hdmi to vga, hdmi to dp)

Everything works (mostly) would just like the last one hdmi to dport to use as a 30" "remote" to run the beast, never been much of an ap$$e guy so displayport is pretty gray 2 me..
