Hello everyone,

I have been getting "your dns server might be unavailable".

I have reset the modem, reset the router, both of which are netgear.

I have called my isp "cox" and when I hardwire from my modem to my pc I can connect with no problems. Cox told me it wasn't a problem on their end.

I have followed the online guides for resetting the dns through the cmd, by entering the commands below in that order and several other orders that are shown online.

Ipconfig /flushdns
Ipconfig int ip reset
Netsh Winsock reset

I have also manually reset my tcp/ipv4 to specifications that were listed on a forum from 2014.

Nothing has worked. Is there something else I could do to fix this issue.

Solution
one other possibility is that the wire from the router to the computer is bad. They can kink and short fairly easily. You can test the wire by replacing the wire from modem to computer with it and see if you can still connect. If not, you know that wire is bad (at least).
If you can hardwire from modem to pc with no issues, it's the router. Resetting may not work if it has gone bad. If you changed any settings in the router, that's a possibility too....wrong encryption type, improper ip configurations, etc.

Router is less than a year old. Have never changes any of the settings. The only thing I have ever done to the router is unplug it and plug it back in. and reset it by holding the reset button for 5 seconds. Going to go buy a new router now. Hopefully that solves this issue.
