Question Do different brands of ram affect it's ability to run in dual channel mode? (Upgrade)

Hello, I have a Lenovo Legion I5 Laptop with 82JW as the motherboard. I would like to purchase a ram upgrade. I can either buy the same one as the original, which is a bit more expensive, OR I can go for a different brand of ram that is also 8GB but it's cheaper.

1. Will having two different ram brands affect its ability to run in dual-channel mode?
2. And if so, should I just buy the replica of the ram that's pre-installed on the laptop, or should I buy a different brand?

I don't think anyone can tell you if the 2 sticks will play nice together.

I run 2 different sticks and it works fine.

Someone else tries it and it does not.
