If it doesn't have a PCIe connector, it almost certainly isn't truly 500W.,

It's been covered off, you need a quality PSU with the appropriate connectors.

Wait, Nipp__, you just bought this pre-built recently??? Can you return it?? If so, do that. That system is poor by late 2016/17 standards..... Given the spec/quality of components, if you paid more than probably $250, you definitely overpaid. I wouldn't even recommend that setup at <$250
 
What I would do is all I can suggest:

If you can't return it, I would attempt to sell it to recoup as much as possible and build something more appropriate. You're in the UK? It's going to cost you something like 400-500 GBP (minimum) to put something together that'll pair nicely with the 1070 you already purchased

Or, you could sell the pre-built & return the GPU, and we can help you work out the best components for your needs/budget etc.
