Do I add 2x4 or another 1x8?

I currently have a 1x8GB memory setup and am looking to upgrade to 16GB. It's effectively cheaper for me to add 2x4GB than to get another single 8GB stick. Would it be detrimental to my memory timings or such to have 4GBx4GBx8GB?

Neither, with memory even adding in a identical stick may not work or be stable. Best bet is to buy a 2x8gb kit then sell your 1x8gb stick.
