Do I buy a new PC now or wait for windows 10 release?

I guess I would need to know how easy it would be to upgrade from 8.1 to 10... any advice anyone? What would it involve?

Does it make a difference? Windows 10 will be a free upgrade to every valid win7 & 8 user for the first year.
