Question Screen tearing when playing video via dedicated gpu.

I am running nvidia optimus so my pc plays everything through the integrated gpu except I had when into graphics settings to change the video playback in microsoft edge to the dedicated graphics card. Now when I play a video in microsoft edge it will play but I get screen tearing. Which, is strange. Doesn't happen when I use Dgpu only in nvidia. Only when The desktop OS runs via integrated but the program via dgpu. Any explanation? It makes the pc run better because the dgpu can do the rendering, its better at it and saves the igpu some heat so the cpu stays cooler. Either gpu can play 4k I just like to have it this way, but am trying to figure out how to reduce the tearing. thanks.
 
Make, model and SKU for your laptop? Check to see if you have any BIOS updates pending. Hardware acceleration enabled on your browser? If so, disable it and see if the screen tearing is averted.
g16 2023 zephyrus its got a i713620h 4060 16gb ram ddr5. the bios is totally updated. and its kind of ironic you say this. I turned that off (hardware acceleration) before i switched graphics cards and found out it won't let you use the dedicated gpu even if its forced to in settings unless its on. If hardware acceleration is off in edge it won't even recognize the dgpu and will just keep using the integrated one. I like triple tested. I think the tearing kinda settles but you can clearly see the monitor go whoa.. this isn't integrated. lol

which one do you have? BIOS version 313 or 316?

I'm assuming you're on the latest GPU drivers for both the integrated GPU and the discrete GPU? If so, mind walking us through how you updated them?

Usual solutions for screen tearing is either to wipe entire system off of all GPU drivers using DDU then manually install with the latest driver version or create a custom resolution, with reduced refresh rate on the resolution. I'm leaning on the possibility that you're having a driver conflict.

What OS are yo on? If Windows 11 what version(not edition) of the OS are you on?

w11, I have the gu603vv. The drivers are just updated via nvidia app and intel app. The bios might need an update tbh, but the last time I checked it was the latest version. Will get back to you.

the bios is also latest version says my asus bios update program, the cpu was running as hot as a game would like 80c trying to play a video at 4k in youtube tho, might be smarter to just use the igpu to do it afterall..

As asked prior, what version are you on? This helps clarify if you have anything pending. If you look around the forums, you'll see people stating they are on the latest version only to realize that they had updates pending. So if you will, what BIOS version are you currently on?

Regarding the drivers, I'd use DDU in Safe Mode and remove all GPU drivers(Intel, AMD and Nvidia) then manually install the latest Nvidia driver in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator and then do the same with Intel drivers. As a test, you can do the above stated suggestion but with drivers sourced from Asus's support site for your laptop and see if screen tearing is present. If you don't see it, rerun DDU as stated above, then use drivers from Nvidia's and Intel's support sites respectively. If you see there's screen tearing then it was a driver issue.

You'll also learn that app's telling you something is up to date or is pending updates has been hit or miss for a lot of platforms. You cross-reference the version you're on and then go onto manufacturer's support site. If there's a difference in version, you update, manually.

oh my bad yeah, its 24h2 3.2 or something. um i duno about bios it just says that its up to date including bios. thanks for the help!
