Im having a really strange issue with my gpu where it wont detect my new monitor to give it signal. however when my old monitor is plugged in i have no issues. The only way i can get my new monitor to work is completely removing my gpu form the pc and using my onboard graphics. Could anyone give some adive please?. i have tried drivers, cables, changing ram slots, both pcie express slots and different bios settings but nothing has worked. Only removing the pu allows the new monitor to get signal from the pc. The monitor is working fine as it works on my xbox and the pc when my gpu isnt plugged in.

you should be listing your system (motherboard/cpu/gpu) even monitor brand and model would help a lot.

the newer GPU, need an "active monitor connection" which older monitors do no have, so that requires a certain adapter for the monitor to make your GPU work

but please, give all info

Sapphire AMD R9 380 Nitro
Acer R241Y WMID

I have a Intel core i3 6300 skylake
Sapphire Nitro R9 380 4GB GDDR5 DVI-I DVI-D HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Card
Gigabyte Z170-HD3P Intel Z170 LGA1151 ATX DDR4 USB3.1 SATA3 M.2 Motherboard
Corsair 8GB Vengeance (1x8GB) LPX DDR4 2400MHz DIMM Black
Corsair RM650X Power supply
The new monitor i picked up was an ACER R241Y WMID in white. Made in febuary of this year

Which cable are you using to connect to the monitor?

HDMI? DVI (white old style)?

I had a stupid issue like this with my monitor, but that's 4 years ago. I was using an HDMI cable but in monitor options itself, it was set to DVI, I had to change input manually on the monitor.

Tried with both dvi and hdmi, setting the monitor to auto detect and setting manually still didnt get a signal from it

Hmm the monitor does come with drivers:
https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/support-product/6698?b=1
that you should try out. But I'm actually looking at the manual and it mentions blue light filtering and i think it auto adjusts it according to clock..if I'm reading this right. Go into color management on the monitor an set it to standard mode. Under picture-color management, make sure it's not set to blue light when the reds are washed out. There's also an auto option there that I think is doing this adjustment so set it to manual and no blue light filtering.
But this also doesn't make much sense if it works just fine on the motherboard connection. Perhaps it has to do with how it detects time? And it can't while connected to the vga? Really reaching here...I don't know but just double check the filtering anyway.

have the drivers installed didnt do anything, i will try the filtering

yes intergrated is disabled and primary set to pcie

Tried it with the filtering, still getting no signal

tried two different hdmi's dvi and vga. All work with old monitor still no signal with the new one

That's really strange. I see no reason why a monitor would work with on-board graphics but not gpu and at the same time card would work with one monitor but not the other. Oh...what about freesync vs G-sync? Does your monitor support either? But...that's cpu dependent. I can't see why it would work on motherboard but not on gpu. Ok what's the model of your cpu and your gpu?
Also...could it be that new monitor doesn't support certain resolutions out of the box? Or maybe is just set to a lower resolution by default. On-board graphics default to a lower resolution usually and if you have your gpu set at a pretty high res, maybe your new monitor doesn't support it? Or at least isn't set yet to the resolution that the gpu wants it to display? Can you set your resolution lower while your gpu is set to primary, and see if anything will show then?

Dont think it supports either. Intell core I3 6300 skylake, with an AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 380 4GB GDDR5 DVI-I DVI-D HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Card, Both gpu and Monitor are set to use 1920x1080. My xbox is set to 1080 and it works instantly

Although they took forever to respond after saying information will be updated in one business day. They have addmited its a compatibility issue and have pawned me off to email sapphire about the issue. Dont think ill ever be buying from acer again
