OK I currently have an Asus H81M Plus motherboard and want to update it with the fastest Intel processer it will allow. I currently have an Intel i5 4430 @3.0 Ghz and want to upgrade it to an Intel i7 4790K @ 4.0 ghz (Motherboard Supported) chip. But I read online that I needed to update the BIOS for a 4th Generation chip like the 4790K. But I got on Asus support chat and they looked up my board by me having to put in my boards serial number and said the BIOS I have should work with the new CPU without updating. My BIOS version currently is 0807...BUT the NEW BIOS Version is 4430....QUESTION....would there be any benefit to upgrading my motherboard BIOS for the new CPU or should I just leave it alone? Will it make any significant difference in performance if I just leave it alone? With the new BIOS you have to use Asus BIOS updater and have to have the new CPU installed BEFORE installing the new BIOS according to the instructions on their website. So would it be worth the upgrade?
