Do i loose features for using a 7thgen cpu on a 6th gen motherboard

I have a 7th gen cpu but my mother board is a msi Z170A 3x.I know you need to update your mother but will i loose any of the 7th gen features?

No octane and 7th gen motherboard supports 24 lanes compared to 20. You do need an updated bios on the older motherboard to support kabylake.

Doesnt matter when the motherboard is manufacture. If the manufacturer doesnt implement a kabylake supporting bios still wouldn't work out of the box. There is only one way to know if or when the latest bios on the website has been added. When people who purchase the motherboards report the bios version that comes with their board. Even then there is no absolutes.

If you already have the MB and a functioning 6th gen CPU on it, flash thee BIOS before the swap ....
