Do i need a BIOS update?

Hi, my friend recently bought a GTX 1050 SSC from EVGA and he is getting worse fps than his old radeon 7700hd. Can it be because he doesnt have hisBIOS updated? He has MSI a55 e33 mobo.
8gb of ddr3 ram. amd athlon x4 740. and if isnt by bios what is the problem then??

You need to install drivers. I had a little scare when I got bad fps with my new gtx 1060 and remembered you need to get the drivers

Also, I'd suggest you upgrade the other parts in your system sometime soon - there will be some pretty significant bottlenecks because of the cpu

Did they get rid of the amd drivers and install the proper nvidia drivers for the 1050? I doubt you need to update the bios.

yop he did but he got bad fps still

but this happened to my pc too and when i reinstalled thenm it worked but with him it didnt 🙁

Might be your gpu struggling to work with the older components but that seems very unlikely as my friend is running a 10 year old core 2 quad q6600 and a gtx 950. I honestly don't know what's going on here

that cpu is really old tho, like museum old. same with the mobo, so a bios updates isnt that far fetched. or some kind of tweaks to get it performing its max potential

Post a pic of the pc as you have it right now. Maybe you aren't plugging in something

and everything is plugged in cause we only changed gpus nothing else and that pc is working 7 years

But its amd so what do you expect 😀
Ryzen is the only line up which is good from them (my thought)

Some older motherboards have a BIOS incompatibility issue with 700-1000 series Nvidia Cards and they won't run on them.
