I am getting close to finalizing my build But I am not building a gaming system. My new computer is going is going to be used, mostly, for Excel spreadsheets and charts. It is going to be used a lot for charting. So I will need graphics for that, the charting. But that isn't demanding of a video card like video games is it? Or is it? To be clear I do need quality graphics for the graphing.

To a lesser degree this system will be used for photography editing, Photoshop, and a minor amount of video editing in Da Vinci Resolve.

For my uses, sa best as I have tried to explain them, how vital is a graphics card? Will I get acceptable results with the graphics built in to the CPU? For Excel charting how dramatic of a difference will I see between a good video card and the built-in CPU graphics?

IF I DO Need a graphics card, knowing what I am doing, which one would you recommend? And if I do need a card I do want to get one that will serve my needs. I am not hesitating because of cost. I just don't want to get something that isn't needed at all.

Here is my system so far.:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 4.5 GHz 8-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Thermalright AXP90-X47 42.58 CFM CPU Cooler

1. make sure the cpu you get has integrated graphics if you don't (7700G in this case, X does not have IG).
2. I'd recommend any entry level card for use cases involving photoshop and any sort of 3d rendering, rtx 3050 or even an intel arc 750.

No need for anything more grand unless you do alot of photoshop AI or davinci type stuff and want to move fast.

What will you be using to generate the charts? I don't see you getting a discrete GPU and even if you did, it'd be something like a passively cooled GPU.

Please disregard the comment about the processor that you've listed to not have an iGPU...

^ all AM5 processors have an iGPU albeit not something beefy.

What sort of a budget have you set aside for your GPU purchase? I would look into an RTX4060Ti at the very least to pair with your build and balance it out.

All AM5 CPUs even those with X except those with F suffix have integrated IGPU. Those with G have stronger IGPU but lesser CPU. IGPU in G is at level of GTX 1030/Rx 550.

Will you be using Da Vinci Resolve Studio or free version?

Studio version can use GPU acceleration.
4GB minimum/8GB recommended vram graphics card is required for hardware acceleration.

The AMD 7 7700X does have integrated graphics:

Thank you for the suggestions. I do not have any restrictions as far as budget for a GPU. You make it sound in your comment, "look into an RTX4060Ti at the very least", like this is minimally acceptable GPU to do the job. If there is one that would serve me better I want to consider that. Thank you again.

I use the free version. I'm a huge believer in the shareware concept and have quite a few apps running on my computer (and phone) that are paid shareware (Reaper, Explorer2x, Folder Clone and Match, others) . I just use Da Vinci so little that I haven't purchased the paid version. But if I get a videocard and use Da Vinci much I may seriously consider the Studio version. thanks

You don't need a graphics card as the 7700X has one built in. I would just order everything else and see how it works for you. Later on if you decide you could use more grunt in photo editing or davinci resolve, you could pickup a graphics card. But there's nothing stopping you from putting it together and using it before you have to make that decision .
