Do I need a Self-Encrypting Drive (SED)?

I am planning on purchasing this SSHD (link)

There are 3 options. is SED needed or can i save a few bucks and just get standard. or is it worth the few more dollars?

Not really worth it. If you want encryption you can use Bitlocker.

Bitlocker is only available on Professional and Enterprise Windows versions.
Besides, if you don't have hardware encryption (as in SED), Bitlocker is just software encryption.
I'd rather have hardware encryption.

Having said that, I am still trying to understand how I set the hardware encryption password on my Samsung 840EVO SED SSD
I've recently posted a question about that.
