Do I need a sound card for a HTPC?

Hi: I'm close to building a HTPC was told today that the on board sound quailty is crap for the motherboard I'm getting..... the motherboard is this one....ASUS A88XM-A FM2+ DDR3 AMD A88X (Bolton D4) Chipset

I'm using a Yamaha RXA-1000 to run my home audio/video set-up. I want all the formats to play audio wise...so would just using a HDMI cable be ok or would the following sound card be a upgrade to the Yamaha's dac's??? No way. Your motherboard link doesn't work, but it it's a A78 or A88 chipset, you'll be fine.

You certainly don't need a sound card. Especially not a $100 one

I thought so the DAC's in the RXA-1000 are pretty good as far as I can remember!!Thanks!!!
