Do I need the Power cords that came with my gpu?

I have looked around and can't find any answer

I have bought a new video card and it came with a 8 pin connector which comes out to 2 separate 6 pin connectors. Do I need to use this or can I plug it in right from my psu?

You do not need those adaptors, use the connections that your PSU already has.

What is your GPU? Usually the more powerful ones require two 6 pin connectors.
