Do I need the RAM cooler?

I have 2x16GB dom plats @3000MHz and I also got the corsair dominator airflow platinum. My cpu cooler is the noctua nh-u12s. I got an extra fan so I could do a push/pull config. When I install the dom airflow, it blocks part of the cpu cooler. I thought I would need it since I want to oc my ram to 3000MHZ from 2133MHz. Is the ram cooler necessary? or should I just not oc the ram and take out the cooler to give better airflow to my nh-u12s? I'll provide a pic as well.

I doubt you need an air cooler. The CPU cooler should provide plenty of air flow across the memory. (sometimes it's an issue with LIQUID COOLERS as there's no fan near the RAM sticks but not here)

So again highly UNLIKELY you need it.

Make sure to use MEMTEST86 to run a full pass test of the memory www.memtest86.com

If it's an INTEL setup as your signature suggests there's arguably no need to overclock this high. Some games like Fallout 4 seem to benefit, though even then if you are higher than 1920x1080 the amount may not be very high.

I'll link this anyway: http://wccftech.com/fallout-4-performance-heavily-influenced-by-ram-speed-according-to-report/

It's a bit confusing what to make of that though. usually 2x3000MHz is more than sufficient for an i7-7700K.
