Do i need to Play Splinter Cell games in order?

Do i need to Play Splinter Cell games in order? or Do i need to Play older Splinter Cell games before playing Blacklist?

Im confused with what to do... Are all the games connected? So do i have to play previous games to fully understand Blacklist's story or Conviction's story?

I agree with RazerAddict, but nevertheless you could play the other games as they are pretty good. They do have a storyline that continues from one to the other but it's very simple and shallow. You could start with Conviction which is really fun. When the game starts there's a whole cinematic that explains pretty much what happened in the other 3 splinter cells. And if you like Conviction then you are going to enjoy the rest. I played them all backwards: Conviction, Double Agent, Chaos Theory and then the first. Hahaha had great fun

they are pretty much chronological in game order and they do have small threads running from 1 game into another but if all your interested in is the game then you can play it without much heed to the underlying story.
