Do I need to plug in the 4-pin power connector?

Greetings,

My last build was about 5 years ago... so it's as if it were my first build.

I am building a computer using an MSI A78m-E45 motherboardm a Corsair CX450 power supply and an AMD A8-6600K CPU. The computer is for every day use, no gaming, no serious photo editing, no film editing, etc. I understand that I should connect the 24 pin connector to jpwr1, but should I connect a 4-pin connector to jpwr2? What does jpwr2 provide power to? The CPU? A graphics card? (I will be using the onboard card.) The manual and the web do not offer any clear explanations, some say jpwr2 powers the CPU, other say it powers high-demand graphics cards. If anybody knows where I could find the answers to the above questions (i.e., the purspose of jpwr2 for this particular motherboard), the information would be most appreciated. Thanks! Happy Holidays!

Thanks for taking the time reply. 😀

I am assuming the 4 pin cable power supplies the CPU.

Have a wonderful Holiday Season!

P.S. Triple DHU!!!

I just went upstairs and separated the 8 pin connector into the two 4 pin connectors. It is only then, that I noticed that one of the 4 pin connectors was CLEARLY marked CPU! DHU! :ouch: :bounce:
