Hey, I'm just wondering if I need to upgrade anything on my pc. The specs are.

MSI h81m-p33
I5 4570
16gb ddr3 1600mhz Corsair ballistix
Palit super jet stream 1060 6gb
120gb ssd hyper x
3x 1tb 7200rpm Seagate Barracuda

Mainly use it for gaming but do record sometimes and upload to YouTube.

I also do 3d modeling and programming as a job/hobby

I don't know of the budget yet as Christmas has just finished.

The reason I'm asking is because I would like to gain more performance and make it a bit more future proof with games in 2017 but not sure if I should get another 4th gen CPU or buy a new mobo that supports the new 6th gen CPU instead. I was looking at getting a i7 4790k or going with 6th gen a i5 6600k with new mobo.

Solution
Your system is well balanced, and there shouldnt be much bottleneck, but you will see an improvement if you upgrade your CPU. There will be a lot of difference between the 4790k and the 6600k but if future proofing is your aim then either really as you can put an i7 in the Skylake board in future.

From the sounds of it you need a good CPU for the tasks you want to carry out. Might be worth investing in Skylake and DDR4 but the 4790k will probably benefit you more now.

Thank you, yeah maybe going for a skylake and ddr4 will future proof even longer with the newer games coming out next year so I'll have to start saving :)

If the i7 4790k will do the trick for another year or so I may aswell do that and then save up for the next year or so and invest in the skylake, new ram and new CPU no point throwing money away if I can just do the CPU and still have a pc for my needs with plenty of power to run new games
