Do I need to upgrade my motherboard?

I have some cheap motherboard it's a msi h61m-p31. I have a i5 3330 cpu and am going to be upgrading my gpu to a Gtx 970 and upgrading my powersupply. I really don't want to spend anymore money then I already am on the powersupply and gpu. But I wanted to know if u guys think a new motherboard is necessary if so how will it improve my gaming and what motherboard recommendations do u suggest if so.

i would not get GTX 970's because they dont use all 4gb memory and it's been an issue with those cards. if i where you i would get a 650 or even 600 power supply and get a GTX 980.

No there is no need go with mobo.

You can't overclock. Niether your Motbo nor the CPU support overclocking. So if you want to overclock, you'll need to change both.

The cpu wont be able to overclock either?ugggg What would happen if i try to overclock? Would it just break?

The CPU has a locked multiplier. So you can't overclock with the processor multiplier. But you'll be able to overclock using the FSB. But such overclock is very limited and it'll bring trouble to other parts since it'll affect them. The only part you can overclock is your GPU.
