do i need to upgrade my psu for my cpu upgrade

i have a gtx 960 4gb and a QuadCore AMD A8-9600, 3400 MHz (34 x 100) with a CX550m 550w psu i want to upgrade my motherboard and and cpu to a AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor i am aware many games might not need 6 core i am getting this for the new emulators which will be using multicore functions.

You should be good With keeping your psu. No need to worry about justifying 6 core cpu, Intel's line is all 6 core as well except for the i3, now 4 core instead of old 2core.

Just remember, it's cpu+motherboard and you need RAM, 3000mhz
