Question Do I really need 6000Mhz for this?

Hi all,

New build on the way, featuring a Ryzen 7 7700 and an RX 6800 XT (which I plan to upgrade soon to either an RX 7900 XT or a 5070 Ti).

It’s specifically for playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 in native 4K, aiming for a stable 60 FPS.

My question is: Does my 32GB of RAM need to be 6000MHz, or would 5600MHz (or even less) be enough?

Thank you !

Unless there is a big dif in price go for the 6000.

Any recommendation ?
Buy a ram kit that is explicitly supported by either the motherboard ram qvl list for your processor or by the ram vendor ram support app. Ryzen is sensitive to ram and if you have problems, you will get help.
Reading these forums, the most common issue I see with ryzen processors are ram related.

6000 speed ram will usually have a cas of 36 and cost $85-$90 from G.skil or Corsair.
No need for fancy heat spreaders which are mostly marketing.
Lower profile ram is fine and will avoid any ram clearance issues with air coolers.
At equal speed, lower timings are better, but you will pay more.
I suspect you would not be able to tell the difference from faster ram without a synthetic benchmark.

6000 CL30 is between $85-100 at the low end, not that huge a price hurdle. EXPO certified memory is usually priced a little higher since it is more popular, but that would be $95 and up.

But even 6000 CL28 only runs $125 for 2x16 GB. I would say that is not worth it, but $10 for 30 from 36 is worth it.
