Hello,I have an old laptop, the Toshiba Satellite M30 and I want to restore it with the recovery disk, but i lost it. However, I have a Satellite M40 recovery disk, can I use that instead?

Those two computers are significantly different.

The M30 shipped with XP Home, the M40 had Xp Pro.

The M30 has mediocre NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 graphics, them M40 has NVIDIA GeForce Go 6600 128mb PCI-Express.

M30 has a 1.4GHz Pentium M processor, the M40 has Intel Pentium-M 760 (2.0Ghz, 533Mhz FSB)

The list goes on...and on.

To use that disk is a "High-Level" risk of ending up with nothing.
The restore inf files or other model checking routines might prevent it from restoring anyway.

If it did load Windows in the M30, every driver must be obtained and installed.

Legal disclaimer and Final Answer: Use at your own, high-risk, and, the operating system on the restore disk you have can only be used on one computer at at time.
