My teacher seems to think that if we unplug it plug in a mouse or keyboard on a computer when the computer is on it Fry's the motherboard. I know this is bull but can I just have confirmation so I can display the evidence? Thanks.

It's called hotplugging when a device supports being able to be unplugged while on. Every modern data port supports it, even video outputs, and sata. If you needed proof, the tech specs will say it supports hotplugging. If they don't believe just any online source, you can get the info straight from USB IF which develops usb.
Depending on what it is, if it's a flash drive and unless you eject it first, it may stuff it up / corrupt it

But yup, I've done it plenty of times

Even with a wifi adapter. When it refuses to connect sometimes. Since I cant use it if I turn it off can I lol
