[SOLVED] Do you need identical resolutions in a dual monitor setup?

When running a dual monitor setup do you need the same resolution for it to work? Ive always had two 1080p 144hz monitors, but as im looking to upgrade to a 2080 or 2080ti im looking at also getting a 4k or 1440p monitor at least. Would i be able to keep one of my 1080ps for multiplayers to get 200+ fps. Or would i need to upgrade both to 1440P?

Im currently using a 1080p and 1600x900 monitor at the same time, no issues.

Nope. Currently running 3 monitors all with different resolutions. The only time you want them to be the same resolution is if you want to clone the displays or using something like surround to span them.

Used dvi-d to 1920x1080 and vga to 1280x1024, so not only 2x different resolutions but also 2x different ratios since 1920x1080 is 16:9 and 1280x1024 is 4:3 without any issues other than the screen background was a little funky since it wouldn't scale right to fit both ratios simultaneously.
