Does 10 gb ram support a dual core 3 ghz Asus motherboard?

I have a dual core 3 ghz Asus motherboard with 2 gb ram .So can I add a extra 8 gb ram on it?I mean total 10 gb of ram

Yes if has 4 memory slots and it supports 4 GB modules that have very close or identical specs to the 1 GB modules. It always is difficult to accurately answer such a question when the motherboard make/model and existing memory modules are not provided.
