depends on the CPU but generally faster ram is beneficial across the board.
Ryzen architecture benefits more from faster RAM than certain intel chips and chipsets

For gaming

You can't use anything higher than 2666mhz with that motherboard anyhow, because it's a locked chipset and that is the highest it supports.

Seems odd that you've chosen to pair an unlocked CPU with a locked motherboard too.
