Hi!

I recently put together a new build and I am running into some issues. I am using the following motherboard:

ASUS Pro WS W680M-ACE

When I connect the 8 pin power connector to the motherboard it causes the pc to start up then shut down after a second or so. If I disconnect the 8 pin connector everything works. And when I say works the pc stays on but I do not have any video output but maybe that’s a different issue. The processor I am using is the i9 13900t so I started thinking maybe the cpu does not require the 8 pin since it’s a low voltage cpu? Or does the motherboard dictate this regardless? In the user manual it does say connect the 8 pin so this has got me scratching my head why this would happen.

I am using the corrector 4+4 pin connector to the modular psu and putting it in the correct psu plug area. Any ideas?

wrong cable?

does it boot correctly to windows without the ATX/EPS connector?
you will have to use the 8pin, otherwise it could crash under load. 35Watt is not much, but could work more stable

which PSU are you using?
take some pictures of the power connections and upload to imgur.com or similar and post the link

What make and model PSU do you have? Yes the 4+4 ESP cable is what you need to use, make sure its plugged into the correct spot on the PSU as well.

Do not use a 6+2 or 8 pin marked with PCI-e on it.

The psu I am using is

Seasonic Focus PX-850

I was using the 4 + 4 connector on the motherboard side and the psu side has labels so I went by those. Also tried other spots on psu for testing. Without 8 pin plugged in pc the dans stay on and motherboard lights show up and no error codes but no monitor signal was showing up via hdmi or display port so that was strange so no telling if windows loaded or even bios. This motherboard is a server board so it has switched on it like a vga one and I trend that both on and off but no video signal. I haven’t used IPMI yet but this board offers it so I guess I could have tried finding it via IP address?

I just request a replacement on Amazon. This seems too difficult that it’s making me think it’s the board. It’s a 13900t engineering sample which I have used in other boards with no issue along with the ecc ram. But you never know maybe some weird glitch for this board and the engineering sample but given these have worked in other builds of mine I find it less like their the problem over the motherboard itself?
