ive seen people make gaming pc build with like a 30 dollar motherboard?.?...

heres my build

https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/

would getting a cheap motherboard change my performance if i got like a 30 dollar one lol?

no it wont. just get the one that has all the plugs sltos you need

you didnt give use your build. you need to click Export/markup (located right up corner) and than clic bbcode than copy and past here

No, it won't affect performance, unless you try to overclock. You have some problems with that build though, that psu is nowhere near enough wattage, and is really sketchy anyways. Get yourself a good 850w min psu. Also, that cpu will really bottleneck your two 280x's.

ive been told by a bunch of people that the psu is fine so im not gonna change it. its by corsair and its good

this is better

i3 beats fx-6300 in every single game http://www.hardwarepal.com/best-cpu-gaming-9-processors-8-games-tested/

any i changed you PSU because its not good XFX one is much better. higer the PSU is better it is look http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html

just ordered the evga geforce gtx 960 im not gnna take that back. and the fx 6300 has more cores. i did read that comparison it looks like the 4160 is better. i just thought that since the fx 6300 has more cores it would be better for multitasking. im gonna stream to twitch and make utube videos

yes i checked the link ur right it is better. i added that to the build as well as the new motherbiard. what about the psu. you showed me a 550w and the person near the top of the thread is saying get an 800w and also saying something about bottlenecking whatever that is????

I told you didnt gave us your build link the first time you see he is talking about 2 r9 280x GPUS 😀 This XFX is very good quality and 550w its enough for every single card setup other than r9 290/x with this 2 GPUS you would need 600-650w PSU. So this PSU is enough for your GPU unless you will be going SLI in the future.

so is this good then??

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/NzWvhM

i took off the gpu since i already ordered it

i guess ill just stay with my mobo that i got right now. im not gonna do sli on this pc since its my first ever build lol. once i build another one and get i higher budget ill do sli.

how do i tell if my gpu will work with that board tho? it doesnt say what pci it is

this is a newer board released last you so no need to worry pci-e slots are backwards compatible so the board would need to be ancient for the GPU not to work.
o and yeah you can allways check if parts are compatible on partpicker just aboove parts there is Compatibility Check and for this build it doesnt show that anything is wrong. for this build i put amd board with intel cpu on purpose PCPartPicker part list as ynoou can see it alerts you that parts are not compatible

alright cool but does that mean using a gpu with pci 3.0 on a 2.0 mess with performance?

alright. so i would be able to use micro atx tho right? just for the hell of it

you may need BIOS update for this boards

this 2 are better
https://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-h81mp33
https://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-h81mdplus

sso about BIOS if you get the board from old stock its possible that board doesnt have the latest BIOS so i3 4160 wont work with this board without BIOS update but you can get i3 4130 (i3 4160 is refresh version and its a little bit better) which will work even if the board doesnt have the latest BIOS

forgot to add i would not get them because if in the future you decide to upgrade you cpu it wont work with Skylake CPU which will come out 3q or 4q this year
but H97 and Z97 motherboards will support skylake

alright 2 quaestions. the 2 u just showed me,, how can u tell that theyre better? and the second question is, do those 2 u showed me work with the 4160 or that 4130?
