Does Asus h81m-k downgrade/reduce the clock speed of RAM?

I just bought a brand new Asus H81-M K. Then i decided to go for Corsair Vengeance 8Gb single stick of 1600Mhz . someone told me that the ram will not work at 1600Mhz instead it will actually work at 1333Mhz. He further added that the ram can be OC but at higher end Mobo like z97 or b85. h81 does not have this ability or option in bios. So i wanted to know that is that true? because i am stuck with my asus mobo.

he recommended that just buy a normal kingston 8gb ram which comes without heat sink.

1600 should run, go into BIOS and enable XMP, else can try setting it manually. 1150 mobos can run 1600 😉
