Does built in monitor sound work on VGA?

Does built in monitor sound work on VGA? from monitor to desktop PC, or does it have to be connected with HDMI, which in my case isn't possible.

The monitor does have 3.5mm audio port , can i connect it with a 3.5mm cable running from monitor to PC then?

but unless you want to buy a 3-5m 3.5mm audio cable for 15 euros+-
you can get some good budget speakers like(they sound way better than your monitor for sure):

Agreed, budget speakers will be better than whatever is in the monitor.
Sound works by moving air, when you put tiny speakers inside a tiny little housing in a monitor there is no room for the speakers to move air so it is very poor sounding. Not to mention even budget desktop speakers are active so they are amplified and much louder.
