Hi,

I have a motherboard which supports only DDR1 RAM. Motherboard model is A8V-VM.
I am planning to purchase a PCI-E x16 graphics card which is DDR3 so will this be supported by my motherboard?

Thanks.

yes we have.some combo pci-ex16 motherboard have both ddr1 and ddr2 slot

on other hand, asus page lists pci-express x16 expansion slot as a thing:
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket939/A8V-VM/e2421-a8v_vm.pdf

so.. yes, I would claim that the mentioned mainboard has such slot. unless it is one of the big brand companies computer who save on anything they can, including not having actual connector soldered to the mainboard. (so to make sure it is there, visual inspection would be needed)

I would be a little bit careful and check several stuffs first.
DDR1 platform was in the middle of transfer from SDRAM ro DDR.
In this era, if I can still remember correctly, the GPUs started to move on from AGP 8x to PCIe x16.
Man..that is quite a long time ago.

Yes, DDR3 on GPU has noting to do with DDR1 on mobo, yes, this is correct and already clarified by those people above.
The only thing you must check first is, does your mobo has PCIe x16 for the GPU or has still the AGP 8x?

Thanks all for replying.

Yes, the motherboard has a PCIEx16 slot. I have seen it in the mobo too. Refer page number '1-7' in the pdf file shared by little_me.

I am planning to go for this graphics card in the below link. Please let me know if this works.
This graphics card has PCI Express 2.0. Will this be suitable to PCI-Ex16 slot in my mobo.

there should be no problems with it. pci-express is backwards compatible. so any pci-e 2.0 card would work with older pci-e 1.0 slot and so on.
Only real difference is bus transfer speed which would become an issue if you used some beefier card that would need it like GTX960 or 970 but with the card shown, no issues.

Will ddr5 ram graphic card work on same motherboard , i have same motherboard and it has pcix16 slot and it works on ddr1 ram so will a ddr 5 ram graphic card work on it.
