Does each gpu need a vga or can you plug one vga into 2 gpus??

if you are asking if you can connect 2 video cards to a single monitor the answer is sure but there would be no gain or point to do so.

what I think you asking is can you connect 2 computer monitors to a single video card, in this case if the video card has the correct connectors there should be no issues powering 2 monitors with a single video card (of course this assumes a modern video card not something that is 20 years old.)

NO I'm running my power source to my gpus using the vga cables and I have several gpus I need to power. the end of the vga cable has two six pin connectors. can you use both or are you suppose to jut use one. I'm asking because I'm trying to power 6 gpus and my power source only has 3 vga cables. Can i plug two gpus into each cable?

VGA is from videocard to monitor, not the power supply. I think what you mean is PCI-EX connector(6 pin or 8 pin). You will need a separate one for each videocard.

So, for example, if you have 6 GPUs and they each require a 6 pin connector, then you need six separate 6 pin connectors, you can't 'share' one between cards.

If you can afford six GPUs then you can afford a proper power supply.

OK. i thought i needed to use additional plugs in the gpu beside the pci-ex. now for the power supply sata connection my connectors have 3 sata ends. Can I use multiple or just one per card

simple rule , if the video card has 1 or 2 connectors (6pin, 2x6pin, 6pin+8pin) you have to provide power to those connectors otherwise the video card will not run properly. and thus provide you with no computing power for your mining computer

so if you have 6 GPU and each require 2x6pin pcie connector you need a power supply capable of providing 12 pcie connectors
here is one for example; Cooler Master Master Watt Maker 1200 MIJ costs 999$. expensive, but what you can do is use 2 PSU that have 6 PCIE each for example. most mining rigs are using a case that permits to use 2 power supplies like 2 x Corsair AX1500i or 2 x Corsair HX1200 or even 2x EVGA 1000 G3 would do the trick

Hope that answers your question
