Does Hackintosh support Hyperthreading?

I'm making a hackintosh computer and was looking to get a i7-3770 non-k OR i5 3570k and a aftermarket cooler. I'm still not sure which cpu to go with because I am going to do much programming and xCode so I was thinking that the hyperthreading would really give me a boost in performance vs just 4 threads but if I get the i5 I will overclock the shit out of it.. hard decision if you ask me but I can easily decide if I know that Hyperthreading isnt 100% compatible in a Hackintosh. Thanks!

Do not know about the i7 but I can tell you that my i5 3570K rig runs great as a Hackintosh. I think if you pick a CPU that OS X supports you should be OK. When you pick your hardware just be sure you get hardware that is Hackintosh supported it makes it much easier.

A "Hackintosh" is just Mac OSX running on non-Apple hardware, but some recent Macs have OSX (Lion, Mountain Lion) running on i7 chips as options. Apple would not release these Macs without the ability to make full use of their resources, so it's a given that OSX can run hyperthreaded cores. The nuts and bolts of hyperthreading is mainly done in the CPU itself, while the OS just has to manage the 8 threads exposed to it. OS performance will improve when it recognizes the difference between physical and logical cores, but Apple certainly took care of that.

In short, it will work fine.

I understand that, its just weather Apple supports it or not! lol I guess since they do support i7's it should work but should I get the i7 non k or get the i5-3570k and Overclock it to about 4.5ghz.... that's my biggest obstacle right now. Any thoughts?

Good choose in CPU I have been very happy with mine both OS X and Windows 8 run great. I am running my Hackintosh on a i5 3570K with a Asus Z77 Sabertooth and it worked great with Unibeast+Multibeast and there was no need for a custom DSDT file with this mainboard.
