Does having a slow hard drive write speed effect game performance?

When I use Dxtory to run a write speed benchmark on my hard drive it only get's around 47mb/s on average. But when I do the same benchmark again while Skyrim is open I get around 15mb/s on average. I know this would effect loading times for my games which I'm not too bothered about, I'm just curious if it actually effects the overall performance of my games. I've started playing Skyrim again and I seem to notice a great decrease in performance. When I used to play I'd have around 60FPS solid while playing on the full graphics settings but now I've started playing it seems to run worse then it previously did. So I'm wondering if my slow hard drive is the cause of the performance drop. All help is appreciated

Absolutely not. The only thing hard drive speed affects is loading and saving times.

Ok thank you, I think it's safe to say my hard drive is well and truly screwed? Considering it's crazy slow write speed.

Use a program called CCleaner. I suggest using this once a week. Also with it, you can fix registry issues that may be slowing down your hard drive.
