Does having an SSD and HDD effect programs boot speed ?

I have an SSD as my main storage mainly used for booting demanding softwares. However i have a spare HDD 1TB sitting around and i figured i could install it.

My question is if i do install a software on the HDD and i try to run it, will it run with SSD speed or HDD speed ?

if it installed on the hdd, then it will load at the speed the hdd can provide which of course is slower than what the ssd can do.

not sure what you're looking to install the the hdd but i'd stick with windows and games on the ssd and other programs on the hdd. the game itself won't run any faster on either drive but will load levels and such quicker from the ssd. so you'll spend less time waiting for a level to load. since games often load a lot of info very often, it makes sense to put those on the ssd. something like office that simply loads once and then sits in memory would be prefect for the hdd. same with other programs that simply load once and then sit in memory.

so put the stuff that loads data often on the ssd and the rest on the hdd and you'll be good to go

Crucial has a 1 TB MX500 for $284 these days....

Darn fast, and still pretty sizeable...

500 GB just does not go as far as it once did....

WIn10, BF1, Quake Live, a handful of utilities, and my 500 gb drive is half full...

Appreciate it, i have researched and watch many big tech youtubers they just could get to the point or even mention how the HDD and SDD interact when it comes to performance

no problem. a lot of false info out there where folks claim an ssd will somehow make your system 3x as fast or double fps and all kinds of other nonsense.

all it does it get info to the ram faster. everything runs from the ram and not the hdd/ssd. so the fastest ssd only loads to ram quicker and then ceases to have any effect. windows does load faster as well since booting up is all getting stuff into ram you can see some drastically lower boot times with an ssd for sure.

still worth it to get one for the faster load times for most games. can save a good bit of time watching the spinning "loading" circle.
