Does Intel Turbo Boost Increase Temps?

Hey TH! So i recently just finished up my new build, and ive been wondering why i have higher temps on my CPU. When playing just about any game i see my CPU temps reach 80c. Now when i looked at task manager, i noticed while playing a game, that the core clock stayed at a constant 4.2ghz for the CPU and sometimes went even higher than that. The i7 4790k has a default clock at 4.0ghz so i assumed if it was being boosted like that, the temperatures would rise. Could this be the case?
And if so how could i disable intel turbo boost?

Solution

Hey guys, just wanted to confirm i fixed the issue.
I basically did disable the turbo boost ( i set my CPU max performance to 99%, stopping it from going over 4ghz)
and now i have a huge difference, my temps rarely go over 60c which im fine with ;p

Turbo boost can cause a slight increase, though 80C isn't quite normal. The CPU has internal circuitry which monitors temps and governs Turbo Boost status, so that the speed throttles down if temps rise too high.

As I see there's no cooler listed I assume you're using the stock cooler that comes with the CPU. If you continue to see high temps you may wan to consider a better cooler.
