Hi, I currentely own a intel core i5-6400, GTX 970 on MSI Nightblade x2 motherboard. Its not doing as great on games anymore and im looking for an upgrade. I searched and got my eyes on the Intel core i5-9600k as of yesterday. my question is: is it really a big difference in performance between these two? and does actually work on my motherboard if I were to get it?
And finally, what do you think im mostly lacking on regarding the performance?

A real newbie here so bear with me please :)

Is there anything I can get to give me the same performance but works on my motherboard?
A 7700K: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compar...l-i5-9600K-vs-Intel-i7-7700K/2578vs3337vs2874
But that cpu would require you to get:
-a brand new cooler. Because there's no cooler height specification listed, you're going to have to open the case up, remove the stock cooler, and measure the distance from the cpu to the side panel, and that'll give you the available cpu cooler height.
-the following firmware update here: https://us.msi.com/Barebone/support/Nightblade-X2#down-firmware
