so my pc always blue screens, makes games stop responding/stop working and even sometimes just randomly turns off with no error showing up.

ive assumed this is from faulty ram (i have 2 pny 4gb sticks), so i got memtest and tested both sticks, by the first pass both sticks had errors (6 on one 23 on other).

is it possible that memtest made a mistake? because how likely is it both sticks fail? is it my mb (z87 gd65)?

Solution

yep. It will just run the ram at a default speed.
Memtest is usually fairly accurate. And its possible, and usually due to a bad batch of ram. Being PNY i'm not surprised. Were the sticks test with only 1 installed at a time? It could possibly be a bad memory controller but you'd need some known good ram to test with.

i did do one stick at a time 6 errors on one 23 on other

See if you have or can borrow a different stick to try on your rig, getting bad results on two identical sticks is unusual but can happen (2 bad sticks), if a third different one test fine then it prob is the PNY sticks, if the third tests bad then it may be the system config or bad mobo, or bad CPU (MC - memory controller)

i still am not really sure how to setup new ram on my pc 🙁 im not the best with computers

Can you borrow/use a known good stick? Can you test this ram in another system?

sorry idk how to setup new ram on my pc. i did do a stress test on my processor it ended with 0 errors

All you have to do is remove the current stick(s) and install the new one. The default timings should be just fine for testing purposes.

are u sure? cause last time i did that it said something like, "CPU or RAM has been changed!!!!" then it gave me a list of options

i think i might just buy new ram http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345&cm_re=corsair_vengence-_-20-145-345-_-Product
