Does my computer suck too much for games?

i dont know anythingf really about computeres but i just bought one and the guy told me it was good for games and it actually sux balls at crysis, cant even play it on the medium settings here are some of its guts

Make sure your drivers are up to date! Use the Windows Experience Index (search for it in the start menu) to find out exactly what card you have then hit up ATI's website and grab some drivers.

Have you patched Crysis? Google 'crysis patch' and get the latest (I'm pretty sure its v1.2)

If neither of those work:
your cpu and ram look fine. I was playing crysis on mid settings with my e6600 and 4gb like 5 years ago. the video card is your problem. pick up a more powerful card, it will make a world of difference. i'm an nvidia guy, so i don't know much about ATI cards but I can tell you that any 400 series nvidia card will do just fine with crysis. if money isn't an issue grab a gtx580. I just just bought 2. They make me drool

Every single computer that is advertised as a 'gaming' computer (with the exception of alienware) pretty much means that it CAN game, but mostly, they don't game well at all.

The kicker is that by upgrading just one part (the graphics card) or sometimes two parts (the graphics card and power supply) you can turn a computer like yours into a very good gaming PC. It is beyond me why 'gaming' computers are never sold with graphics cards worth more than 50 dollars. When the rest of the PC is actually pretty solid.

That GPU is the limiting factor here. Most computers advertised as the "gaming" kind, really can't run games that well at all. Regular people when buying a new computer would ALWAYS look at the CPU first and sometimes even the deciding factor on whether or not they are going to buy that computer or not. Yes, they just got tricked and have not realised that the seller has put some dodgy low end GPU inside that machine, in order to make it cheaper. That is their marketing strategy.

The best thing you can do right now is upgrade that da-mn graphics card. a ati 4300/4500 series card is not even enough to run Call of Duty 4 smoothly at max, let alone Crysis.

Pretty good system overall. As was stated, the HD5770 card, would give you a lot of bang for the buck and won't drain your wallet. That would bring up the issue of the PSU though. You would do well with a 500w PSU, but would want at least 25a on the +12v rail to be on the safe side. You DON'T need that 850w monster I have in here as that is a bit of overkill.

Short of spending a ton on a 975 extreme or 980x ( less for the 970 ), probably not much more to do with that rig. It is good to go for quite some time as it is, why bother? : )

We have a thread over on the site I moderate for benchies ( something to do I guess ). Anyway, we do have a couple of hard core OCer's over there and I ran this thing. I did alright, but the problem I have is I installed a 6 Gb matched set of Crucial Ballistix in here, and it was locked to 1066 Ghz. As far as I'm concerned the memory is strangling my performance to some degree. That and I'll be able to up the QPI from 3.8 to 6.4 which should help ( probably have to do that to get the memory speed up anyway, but not sure ). Anyway, with just a few tweaks, I should be able to get the numbers up some. This thing has good band width across the board from what I can tell, it's the memory that is a problem for the most part.
