does my GPU affect sleep mode

so, I've been working on a little repair project, and not all has gone well regarding actual setup...

Details: Upon turning on the PC; all fans spin, and there are no beeps to be heard (beeps were an issue, but I fixed the memory by applying more force) . Monitor displays "check connection cables" when none are plugged in, but when plugged in, it goes into sleep mode after displaying the message (with both VGA, and DVI cables hooked up.) I've tried restating the BIOS by moving select prongs (properly) and have even undone, then re-done wiring.

Build:
CPU: AMD athelon 2 adx2550ck23gm
Mobo: M4A78LT-M LE
Memory: 2 sticks of 2GB DDR3
Storage: 500 GB
Pow Sup: 350W
Monitor: Flatron L206WTQ-BF

My hunch is that the GPU is the issue. (I have 2, but one slot)

Upon plugging either in, the fan spins (or grill heats) but I've been using the wrong kind of cord. But my question at this point is: Is there another issue?

I own a Logitech G105 gaming keyboard that won't light up when i plug it in, yet most crude USBs with a light inside will shine, and to top that off, I don't know id the CPU is in steady shape.

if there's any pieces to the puzzle you can help me find, it'd be much appreciated.

Thanks

1. Do you have the 4 pin ATX power connector plugged into the Motherboard? It should be located near the CPU socket. Ensure that the power supply is connected there.

2. When you say the fans spin, but question the "cord" you might be using, what exactly are you refering too? The video cable to the monitor, the power cable perhaps? From where to where?

Per ASUS, the beep codes are as follows.

One short beep - VGA detected / No keyboard detected.

One long beep followed by two short beeps, then pause and repeated - No memory (RAM) detected

One long beep followed by three short beeps - No VGA detected

One long beep followed by four short beeps - General hardware failure.

1. Yep, triple checked. That cord is in place
2. DVI cables to give me “picture” in this case. There are a grand variety of them, and I believe I’m using the wrong kind
3. The beeps occurred at one point, but matched none of those beep patterns, so I’m lead to believe it’s running a different bios
