Hi, Long time lurker first time poster and (relative) tech simpleton here. I'm looking at getting a Thunderbolt Audio interface for my DAW pc and can't work out if it will be compatible.

My mobo is an Asus Z170-P https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/Z170-P/

In the specs it says it has a USB-C port but - after much reading - I'm confused as to whether I can plug a Thunderbolt 1 Audio interface into it. I asked the Interface manufacturer who just said the USB-C and TB were "not the same" but i thought they were kind of...compatible?

If not, I gather I could get a PCIE card to add TB ports but can't work out if the mobo has a TB header.

Any insights appreciated!

if the manual doesn't mention about the tb header, and likely there is no tb support natively from the board.

here is the io listed on the asus website. i don't see any so no.

also, as for TB AIC card, I believe that you actually need a tb header to make it work.
