Does putting an SSD in an optical drive caddy affect performance?

Since I only have a single hard drive in my computer, a 1TB SSD, it seems really pointless to have 10 huge hard drive caddys in my computer. As well as freeing up space, by removing the hard drive caddys I could improve the airflow of the case significantly as I have 2 intake fans directly behind the caddys. But of course, if I were to remove the hard drive caddys (which I really want to do), I would need somewhere else to put my SSD. I have a 2x optical drive bay, and I was wondering how difficult it would be to put my SSD into one of those optical drive bays.

I came across these when doing some research: http://goo.gl/k1eP6A

With my SSD in one of those, I could then house it into one of these: http://goo.gl/SlMBqF

Is this possible? Will it have an impact on performance, and if so, how severely?

Any advice on this subject would be much appreciated.

Would this be possible?

I was a little confused at first. The first link is for a caddy/adapter for a laptop. The second link is for a 5.25 inch optical drive designed for use in a desktop pc.

If you have a desktop pc with an available 5.25 hard drive or optical drive bay, then all you need is a 5.25 inch to 2.5 inch drive bay adapter. I've had good luck with this Orico model which is available from Amazon in the UK:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/ORICO-Aluminum-mounting-bracket-adapter/dp/B005OJFASY/ref=sr_1_29?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1433619112&sr=1-29&keywords=Orico

Orico has several variations. One of the adapters can accommodate two 2.5 inch ssd's in the space of one 5.25 inch hard drive / optical drive. There are other brands that are also available. Just search for 2.5 inch to 5.25 inch drive bay adapter or 5.25 inch to 2.5 inch drive bay adapter.
