Does RAM usage depend on game settings?

Hi!

Is the RAM usage higher when bumping up game settings to high or ultra, or ram usage will be the same no matter the game settings?

I have FX-6300 with HD 7770 and 4gb RAM and I ask this cuz of Battlefield 3 multiplayer cuz it need lots of ram 4+ I heard it can use, and generally when I start RAM heavy using game when I reduce game settings will my ram suffer or will my ram usage get lower?

NO. it uses more vram in the graphics card but not your ddr3 ram.

In general, yes it does. How much so is a matter of what the particular setting is. For example, cranking up the Anti-Aliasing will cause your GPU to use much more of the graphics card's onboard memory, but has very little impact on the system memory. Cranking up draw distances, texture detail, etc... can impact both.

Ok, i get it, do you think I need to upgrade ram from 4 to 8 gb, I have HD 7770 so I think that if I buy 8gb however I can't bump up the settings cuz of my mid quality graphics card?

I play BF3 with 2gb of RAM and get decent frame rate, just close unnecesary processes.
