Hello guys.
Yes, I know it's 2018, and there are far greater internet options available...BUT I just bought a house in the middle of nowhere, and due to a hefty down payment, on top of bills and general living expenses, I'll be a bit strapped for cash until I can get back on my feet financially.

That means, having to let a luxury or two go for the time being. Now, the only options available in my area are DSL, which is crazy expensive, you need an active phone line in order for it to work, and the total (after taxes) is $103/month, can't afford that. And Hughes net satellite.
I recently read a few reviews and they don't seem very good.

The charges break down as follows: (when bundled with phone) Cell service is sh1t out here is why
Estimated Monthly Recurring Fees:
Service Plan: Gen5 10 GB $49.99
HughesNet Voice: Domestic $24.95
Equipment Lease Fee: $14.99
Lease Equipment Fee Offer ($5.00)
Total Monthly Recurring Fees: $84.93
+Taxes

Amount charged to your credit card today: $84.93
The problem is, they also run a credit check, and my credit isn't the greatest. So, that option would be out.
And, of course. Dial up. 14.99/month.

I play a lot of steam games like Resident Evil 6, Fallout 4, Saints Row IV, Sims 3/4, Rise of The Tomb Raider, btw the 2013 reboot was AMAZING!

I am just not sure if I will be able to play these games without any type of lag. Mind you, this will only be temporary until I can afford something better. Thoughts? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

tbh if i were you id wait. i lived in a small town once (they got phone service 40 years ago) so i know what no internet is like. yes broadband was expensive. 150$ for a 15Mbps line. i used the local library for their wifi for internet, and saved for 6 months till my job and I could afford it.
Any connection should work.

System Requirements

Windows XP, Vista, or 7
512 MB RAM
1 Ghz or faster processor

Intel Mac, OS X version 10.7 (Lion), or later.
Two-button mouse strongly recommended

1GB HD space (recommended)
Internet connection (broadband recommended)

I hope your games are already downloaded lol.

I do have an older Windows 7, 2010-ish HP Pavilion spare computer I can port my games to. Don't necessarily feel comfortable using my main rig with dial-up. Have you ever used satellite internet before? Some of the reviews I've read online are saying it's actually worse then dial-up.

No, I've never used sat.
But the general way it works is Download from the satellite, Upload via a dialup connection.
And the latency (ping) from the satellite is pretty crappy.

Have you got decent mobile phone coverage with some data?
Can always tether off that. Won't be suitable to download games, but checking servers etc would be fine.
Before you commit to dial-up, maybe worth remembering JUST HOW SLOW it is.

Yes, well aware of that. I used dial up back in the 90s when I was a kid. I hated the noise of a 56k modem. SO ANNOYING! Sounded like my computer was talking to aliens or something. Satellite might be the way to go then. Gonna check with DISH and DirecTV.

I always thought of the noise as my computer having a stroke. Haha.

Just looked up some 56k speed comparisons. ~8min for a 30sec video!!! ~12min for a 3.5mb MP3!!!

What can you get from your phone? I get 12Gb for $50AUD/m. Just ran speed test and got 144/37 with 21ms ping, so easily faster than vdsl or even fibre (at least in Aus).
