Does the Asus VG248QE have good speakers?

Does the Asus VG248QE have good speakers? And what cable should I use to utilize 144 hz?

Displayport 1.2 and Ive yet to see a monitor with speakers that anyone would call good. Adequate is probably the best description, Id personally recommend some good headphones or external speakers.

Edit: Theyre small non name brand 2W speakers, so Im gonna say it's safe to say they arent great.

No, the speakers will suck but you will have sound while you look to purchase decent speakers. To get 144hz. you need display port cable (not included) or the DVI cable (included).

At 1080P DVI cable will work, that's why they include it with the monitor. Display port does give the highest resolutions at the highest refresh rate so it's the best cable to use.

Will DVI work with 1920 x 1080 and 144 hz? Or do I need display port?

DVI will work for 144hz. I already said that. The link I gave you earlier to Asus says it will work. If you want to, you can get a display port cable later on that's fine too but you don't have to have it.
