Hi all,
I ordered my parts
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/J7CNxr
(also if someone could tell me how to embedd the part list that would be amazing)
and I now have everything except my graphics card (R9 290x) so I was wondering if it's possible for me to assemble my computer without the graphics card and install my OS and get my games downloaded and installed. Also whether or not i could just plop my graphics card in later.

I think it's a pretty simple question, I just have no idea how this stuff works. So if someone could let me know, preferably with some sort of explanation and evidence (really, really, really don't wanna fry my brand new computer before i even use it)

Thanks for reading!

Solution

A motherboard does not have onboard graphics, i think you are talking about the cpu. A cpu might come with onboard graphics, so it really depends on your cpu.

Haha, shows just how much I know about these things.

Well awesome thanks guys especially you SR-71 Blackbird for the specific answer, i'll go and get building in that case.

Also once the card arrives do i need to do anything special or just turn off my computer, hook it up and restart?

TURN OFF computer , unplug the power supply from the wall , press power button to discharge any remaining current.

Install the Card plug power into card aka PCIE cables.Make sure monitor is plugged into card , plug everything back in and boot the computer , the card should be recognized , but you will have to download the drivers from AMD site.

ENJOY the new card. 😀
