Hello there.

Is the Z97P-D3 good (I'm spending approx £800 on a PC excluding monitor, case and software) and does it work with the i5-6500?

Thanks

Solution
No, they are not compatible.
Any socket 1151 motherboard will be compatible.
Even a low end motherboard from a good manufacturer like Gigabyte, Asus or Asrock will run that CPU reliably for years.
The more you spend on a motherboard, the more features you get...
But a lot of people don't need or use the features you get with an expensive mobo.
Either get a budget H170 board, or google the extra features available on a Z170 and decide if you need any of them

Would the ASUS H170-PLUS work with it? (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B014QPF8KG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2JUHDYXY8SSUT&coliid=IQ2JF83AD6U4Y)
